Lamp & Pencil is committed to minimising our negative impact on the environment through awareness and action of solid sustainable practice within the company. We believe this is essential, and we strive to integrate this into our company ethos and culture.
The Company will actively aim to enhance the environmental efficiency of its business activities and facilities to reduce the consumption of energy and other resources, reduce waste and re-use or recycle wherever possible.
No matter how small an action may seem, it is combines with all the other little actions and helps in a big way.
We will do this through:
Responsible use of resources. Due to the nature of our work, our supply chain is varied and diverse. We choose high quality components and prioritise excellent quality of assembly to ensure a long product life. We design for modular construction to enable upgrades instead of replacement and make things that can be easily and fully dismantled at the end of their life.
Where possible we source and select more environmentally sustainable options.
We will buy back at the end of a show or event and offer rental options where possible.
Reduction first, re-use second and recycle third. We adhere to our own responsible waste management programme. All the batteries we use and supply are rechargeable and at the end of their life we will take back and recycle. Materials that can be re-used are either given away or sold and waste is separated and recycled wherever possible. Metal, cable, WEEE and suitable 3D printing waste is sent for recycling in addition to general recycling of paper, plastic and glass.
Our packaging is recycled or sustainable options chosen. We only ever buy plastic free packaging such as paper tape and corrugated card wrap.
Our electricity is supplied by a green energy supplier and our travel policy favours public transport where feasible.
We educate and engage with employees and communicate our environmental goals to try to create an ethos and culture of good sustainable practices.
This encourages all staff to maintain an overview and awareness to identify impacts and sustainable opportunities, aided by managing and updating systems and processes to improve environmental performance in our operations.
Leadership accountability is in place via regular assessments on progress and activities to ensure we are achieving the standards required to ensure good environmental compliance at all levels of the company.
