Temporary Distribution Equipment Testing for the Theatre & Events Industry

A one day course aimed at giving delegates a firm understanding of the legal requirements of why distribution equipment is inspected and tested, and the practicalities of how. It covers the essential inspection and tests and also discusses what is not necessary, focusing on the main intention of ensuring that distribution equipment is safe to use and will reliably form part of an electrical system rather than overly complex routines.  It is suitable for training those who are not ‘electrically minded’ to act as instructed persons accordingly.  There is no general guidance so the course is based on procedures developed by us and verified by industry professionals including some distribution equipment manufacturers as well as referencing the relevant legislation.

At the end of the course candidates will:

1. Understand the requirements of the law to provide a safe working environment;

2. Know how electrical safety is part of providing a safe working environment;

3. Understand the basic principle of earthing and overcurrent protection as a means of protection against electric shock & fire;

4. Know why insulation is important;

5. Understand the user checks and why they are necessary;

6. Know how to conduct a formal visual inspection of temporary distribution equipment;

7. Know how to identify and conduct the appropriate tests for temporary distribution equipment to ensure that it is safe & reliable;

8. Be able to complete appropriate recording of the results.

This course can be readily adapted to suit companies who may already have temporary distribution equipment testing procedures in place and can use in-house test equipment for hands-on training as required.  Please contact us for information.
